About Me

My photo
Falmouth, United Kingdom
I am lucky enough to live in beautiful Cornwall and enjoy nothing more than walking on my local beach at Swanpool searching for sea glass. I am inspired by all the natural things I see around me,my favourite colours are the blues and greens of the ever changing sea.

Corner to corner blanket

Just beginning first colour stripes
completed,
I saw a photo and a post on Facebook from someone who was just finishing her C2C crocheted blanket. I was intrigued I love crochet but had no idea what a C2C blanket was. After some internet research I discovered that it simply meant corner to corner and that's exactly what you do. You start with 1 block of crochet and increase on every row until it is the size you want, decrease on every row until you are back to one and finally add a border, that's all there is to it.

I am always keen to try new things and here is my first attempt the photos show my progress stage by stage.

I made this first one using a free pattern from www.redheart.com  in cream, coffee, minty green and yellow DK yarn using a 5mm hook. The finished blanket measures approx. 28" square. This pattern is easily adjusted to any size you choose.

I am absolutely delighted with the results it's so easy why didn't I know about it before. I have finished a second one and started a third. You could say "I am now hooked on C2C"

Halfway it's all down hill
from now

All done needs blocking.
Very happy with the result.

Teddy loves it

New Flower Garlands

Garland under construction
all pieces now made

All complete it's really pretty

To herald the Spring and Summer I have made this lovely new design garland from a pattern that I purchased on Etsy from 4LilBeans

It is shorter than quite a few that I make at about 52" so great for smaller spaces.

It is made using Patons 100% cotton DK yarn which is machine washable in a warm 40deg medium wash, dry flat, do not tumble dry
It has 4 large flowers in 2 shades of yellow and white and 3 smaller flowers in yellow and white it is hanging from green crocheted chain with green leaves in between each flower.
Great for use indoors or out but don't leave it out in all weathers as cotton is a natural fibre and will eventually rot.
Would be lovely to use at a wedding too.
For sale at £13.00 + postage in my Folksy and Etsy shops.

Mandalas 2

When I make a Mandala I like to give it a name usually as I am working on them a title pops into my head.
Surprisingly I have yet to make a 'Rainbow' one but hope to soon.

'Blue Skies'

'Springtime'
because it reminded me of blossoms and primroses

'Easter'
because it made me think of chicks and daffodils

'Christmas'

This one is called 'Passion Flower'
it reminded of a beautiful one that we have in our garden.
